I really love a good Vision Board. Whether you want a place to pin your motivation, inspirational words, ideas for a future craft project, family pictures, or birthday card from a friend, these boards can spruce up your decor, and if you let them, inspire you to reach your goals.
A Vision Board That Works
If you're like me, you pin stuff to your board to get it off your desk (I need to remedy that problem). Seeing 'stuff' in front of you will not help you with anything. To have a board that actually will inspire you and help you reach your goals will require a little bit of work and reflection.
What do you want? Financial freedom? To be a full time artist? A healthy lifestyle? Time for yourself? If you were a full time artist, what are the words you would use to describe how feel? Free. Happy. Light. Fulfilled. Strong. Take some time for yourself to write those words down and look through magazines, books, art, Pinterest, etc., to find pictures, words, quotes that appeal to you and describe your intentions. If you find a picture that you like but it doesn't totally describe what your are looking for, hand on to it, but don't place it on your board.
Writing Things Down
What are small things you can do right now to create some of those feelings for yourself? Write those things down and actually take time out of your life to DO them. If one of your words is 'strong', write down an activity to help with your physical strength, or an activity to help with your emotional strength. Whether you have 5 minutes or 30, make the time to do these activities on a regular basis.
What's Stopping You?
If you have been trying to move into a healthier lifestyle for a few years now, you may know what some or your roadblocks are. When you hit them, you need to figure out why these are in front of you. What habits are in your way? What resistance are you meeting from people around you? Are you making excuses for yourself? Find out what your roadblocks are and start to break them down, heal, and fix them. This is for you, so putting in that effort is definitely worth it.
As you are moving along through life, feel free to make necessary changes and check in with yourself. You can't create a million dollar goal for yourself and spend your days watching TV. You are worth the time.
What Kind Of Goals Should I Pin?
Whatever you want!!! There is no limit to what you are capable of. Do you have a physical goal? Personal growth? A creative goal? A goal for your business? Give yourself realistic time frames to reach these goals whether it be 6 months, a year, 2 years. Push yourself to be better, but recognize your aren't Wonder Woman (or Superman). Not reaching your goal doesn't mean you failed, being a work in progress is a great thing.
