I wanted to be sure to list a few items that anyone could use around the house (or on the go). I try to find things that are out of the ordinary or a little different than something you could find walking through a store. I like the gifts I give to be a total surprise and something meaningful or really useful to whoever I'm gifting to.
These little (adorable) speakers have great, clear sound that you can connect via a wireless (Bluetooth) connection to your iPieces, tablets, Samsung phones, etc.. They are as teensy as they look, standing a little taller than a golf ball. You can charge it up with a USB cable and the battery lasts approximately 4 hours. There is also a selfie feature if you find your Audio Pet is in the perfect selfie position. $30
I have one of these and they are so incredibly soft. You can't help but pet it. They come in a few different color options as you can see above, and yes, they are faux fur. Sometimes you just need to cuddle in a super soft blanket and feel like a million bucks - this will help with that. I own the Arctic Fox, there is also the Lynx Golden, Eyelash Ivory, Taupe Leopard, Taupe & White Rabbit, and Mink. $80
Card & Board Games
A bunch of my close friends are either buying their own homes or starting families and I have always thought that everyone needs some good ol' games for those times when friends come over or you want to have some family fun time. Yes, I like whipping out games for family fun time. Some of the games I've listed are oldies but goodies, some are a little newer and better for the adult crowd (if played while some friends are drinking, results get very funny, very fast). Operation $20, Scrabble $15, Twister $9, Cards Against Humanity $25, Apples to Apples $23, The Voting Game $25, Taboo $8, Settlers of Catan $35
Coffee Table Books (Books on Display)
I have an article (Books on Display) that lists some of my favorite Coffee Table Books as well as a few that I have given as gifts. They are available in any and every subject, so be sure to grab something that will interest whoever you are gifting. If you are gifting a hockey fan, let's say, the Montreal Canadiens (my team!!!), I'd look for something specifically about that team and their history. If you want to spend a bit more, grab something else about the general sport of hockey.
Movies and TV
I am a HUGE movie and TV watcher. There are some sets that are classics and some that are classics to me that I think everyone should own. Be sure to grab some gift receipts in case someone already owns these (or make sure you take a look at their personal movie collection prior to shopping). If someone has a favorite actor or genre, there are so many fantastic sets out that you can grab. Back to the Future: The Complete Series BR $60, Boy Meets World: The Complete Collection DVD $70, James Bond Collection BR $136, Friends: The Complete Series BR $80, Harry Potter: Complete 8-Film Collection (not everyone has seen these movies believe it or not) BR $35, Sex and the City: The Complete Collection DVD $55, Band of Brothers + The Pacific BR $85, Best of Warner Bros 50 Film Collection BR $200, The Steve McQueen Collection BR $18, Forever Marilyn Collection BR $25
I love burning candles around the house to make it smell like fresh flowers or like a batch of cookies are baking in the oven. You can obviously get these anywhere but there are a few spots that have some incredible scents that I can't find elsewhere.
Anthropologie - I really love picking up candles from this place! Not only do they have some fantastic, yummy scents, I tend to reuse the containers around my house for bathroom storage, office storage, and so on. The Angel Food, Whipped Cream & Pear, Volcano, and Macaron are my favorites here.
Henri Bendel - I will never forget going without power for 2 days and using these candles to light my bedroom. It was the most relaxing power outage of my life! And we are talking about no AC in the middle of a Texas summer. The combinations are some you'd never think of and are some really incredible scents.
Yankee Candle - If you are more into larger size candles that last a long time and smell awesome, this is the place for you. They have anything you could ever need in the candle world and have so many different sizes to choose from. I once hyperventilated in a store because I was trying to breathe in too many fragrances. My favorites here are anything that reminds me of baking: Vanilla Bourbon, Vanilla Cupcake, French Vanilla, Christmas Cookie, Chocolate Layer Cake, and Buttercream.
I hope you love some of these ideas and keep them in mind for your gift giving needs this year. I have chosen these and given my honest opinion of everything listed here. I have not been paid or received anything from these companies for this post.
