Where to begin with the new Fall 2016 collection?! Our models! They are teachers, mothers, artists, photographers, and philanthropists.. Essentially, they are not modeling every day for a living. And if the pictures below seem familiar, it’s probably because you have seen some of the work from the famous photographer who worked with us for this shoot: Mark Seliger (I’ve posted a few of his famous pictures below).
Female empowerment is at the heart of the c+i brand, so it only makes sense that this collection is inspired by strong, pioneering women in history. They paved their own paths with passion and vigor, writing new rules on what success and happiness look like. Check out their stories and pieces below!
The Hero: Lee Miller. Already an established model in the 1920s, Lee Miller left the comforts of New York City to establish herself as a photographer in Paris. As WWII raged on, she braved the frontlines to document a war-ravaged Europe in career-defining black and white photos.
While this collection’s clean lines are inspired by the Bauhaus art and architecture of the early 20th Century, each piece is truly of-the-moment. And like Lee, they will endure no matter the environment or situation.
The Artisan: Leonor Fini. Despite possessing no formal artistic training, Leonor Fini became a highly successful writer, artist, and costume designer, particularly known for her paintings of powerful women. She is considered one of the few females to break into the French Surrealist arts scene and go on to be an international star.
The romantic Art Nouveau movement, a major source of inspiration for Leonor, draws upon flora and fauna, highlighting the curved lines found in nature. In this collection, we’ve built on that love affair with dramatic bursts of crystals and reinterpreted florals fit for the urban jungle.
The Rebel: Anaïs Nin. Writer Anaïs Nin owned every moment, documenting each in a series of journals that would become her most intimate and defining work. She was a key female player in the boys’ club bohemian world of the 1930s, fluidly moving in literary and art circles.
Our Rebel collection features complex and alluring designs with intoxicating semi-precious red tiger eye stones at the heart. Declarative, these styles are not for wallflowers.
The Maven: Tamara de Lempicka. Referred to as ‘the baroness with a brush,’ Tamara de Lempicka was a pioneering female painter who became a glamorous sensation and international Art Deco ambassador. Tamara devoured every part of life and was determined to make artwork that would create an instant and lasting impression.
Featuring icy silvers and vivid greens with an Art Deco vibe, our Maven collection refuses to be ignored. Each design proves you are the master of your style game and aren’t afraid to ruffle some feathers.
Our customer favorites, the Bead + Chain Multi-Wrap Bracelets, are back and daintier than ever! The chunkier versions (Bead+Ribbon) are still around so be sure to check out my new favorite B282BU on the site!
